Unveiled on the web last November, the scene which was to serve as a prologue to “Jurassic World: The World After” does not ultimately appear in the feature film, in theaters since Wednesday.

A flashback set 65 million years in the past, an animal documentary-style introduction, a merciless confrontation between a T-Rex and a Giganotosaurus, a mosquito bite… and a scene of panic in the parking lot of a drive-in these days.
Unveiled in preview during the Cannes Film Festival 2021, then on the web last December, this 5-minute sequence which was initially supposed to serve as a prologue to Jurassic World: The World After, does not finally appear in the film. .
Indeed, sometimes to their great surprise, the fans who have already gone to discover the last opus of the saga (in theaters since yesterday), were able to see that the feature film did not start with the famous prehistoric sequence, but on a completely different.
In the first seconds of the film, we can thus see the mosasaur attacking a fishing boat, then a television report reporting on the situation in the whole world, where the dinosaurs now evolve freely.

Particularly impressive and set during the Cretaceous, the prologue that we saw landed online a few months ago, however, represented a double advantage:
- to offer the public a new and original look at a key plot element that had never before been directly addressed in the saga (namely the day the mosquito fossilized in amber recovered the DNA of the T-Rex )
- and send a nice nod to Jurassic Park in 1993, whose tagline was: “It took 65 million years for this adventure to become possible.”
When unveiling the scene in question, last November, director Colin Trevorrow had also explained the reason for its existence:
“Maybe because we had never done it! (…)“he had answered the microphone of Screening. “If you enjoy our movies and you love dinosaurs enough, I can’t imagine you wouldn’t want to see the Cretaceous era. And ultimately that’s also something I wanted, I think I wanted to have fun. When I was a child, I was a fan of dinosaurs who dreamed of seeing this world, and today I have the chance to do so. I took this opportunity. “

Why is the sequence not in the film? We don’t know anything about it at the moment, but we can easily assume that the filmmaker finally chose to remove it to get straight to the heart of his subject, and not to lengthen the plot of his feature film (by a duration of 2h26) with a scene that everyone had already seen.
But after all, it doesn’t matter whether or not it served as an introduction to Jurassic World: The World After. The main thing is that this scene exists! If you don’t know it yet, we strongly advise you to watch it before going to discover the latest opus in the saga at the cinema.
