In the criminal trial of Harvey Weinstein, a jury in California found the former Hollywood mogul guilty of three counts of sex crimes, including rape. The jury announced this to the Los Angeles court on Monday after days of deliberations. He was acquitted on one point, and there was no agreement on three other points.
The jury had to decide on seven counts, including rape and other sexual assault. It was about allegations by four women in a period from 2004 to 2013. Most of the attacks are said to have taken place in hotels in Beverly Hills. The 70-year-old Weinstein faces a long prison sentence.
With the trial in California, Weinstein was again on trial for sexual assault. A trial in New York for rape and sexual assault ended in 2020 with a guilty verdict and a 23-year sentence.
