Just rescued – dog left behind in the car at 60 degrees Celsius

It’s actually unbelievable that there are still people who ignore all warnings! At a shopping center, a Styrian couple left their dog in the car in the extreme summer heat. The already weakened animal could barely be rescued at indoor temperatures of 60 (!) Degrees, because passers-by intervened with moral courage. Although valuable time passed before the animal was rescued.

First of all: the poor dog was already in critical condition, according to the veterinarian who called in! Nevertheless, the owners were unimpressed and were not aware of any guilt.

The temperatures rose again on Thursday, especially at lunchtime they scraped to 30 degrees in many places. But that obviously didn’t prevent the owners, 40 and 45 years old, from going shopping in Bärnbach in the midday heat. And leave the dog in the car.

Shortly after 2.30 p.m., a patrol from the Voitsberg police station was called to the parking lot. Passers-by had filed a complaint after the dog had apparently been locked in the hot vehicle for some time. Police officers identified the registered owner and had him called out several times in the shopping center and in a hardware store – but without success. After the medium-sized mixed breed dog had been in the car at high temperatures since shortly after 2 p.m., according to witnesses, the officers from the Bärnbach fire department notified the fire brigade.

Smashed side window
In the presence of a veterinarian and employees of an animal shelter, the fire brigade broke in the side window of the car to save the dog. At this point the patient was already severely weakened and immediately received veterinary treatment. According to a veterinarian, the dog was already in critical condition. According to her, waiting longer would sometimes have meant the death of the animal. The temperature inside the car that was later determined was already around 60 degrees Celsius at this point in time.

The vehicle owners from the Voitsberg district came back to the parked car after the rescue. They were stubborn, claiming to have only been gone a few minutes. They are reported on suspicion of cruelty to animals.
