According to a poll, 65% of French people believe that judges are “not strict enough” and 73% that Emmanuel Macron’s record in terms of justice is negative.
A large majority of French people (73%) believe that the judicial institution “works badly“. A figure that has never been so high for 60 years, according to an IFOP survey for the Sunday newspaper.
Respondents are 65% to believe that judges are not “not strict enough“, a figure even higher among sympathizers of the “radical right(82%). In terms of the fight against insecurity, the record of the President of the Republic since his election is considered “negativeat 69% while his action in the area of justice is judged negatively at 73%.

This survey comes as the Minister began a series of consultations on Monday with citizens and players in the judicial world as a whole, ten days after the presentation to Emmanuel Macron of the report on the Estates General of Justice, judged “on the verge of breaking“. The two main magistrates’ unions, in conflict with the minister, refused his invitation.
The survey was carried out on a sample of 1,017 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over, questioned by self-administered online questionnaire on July 21 and 22.
