Justin Timberlake has had a successful music career since his teenage years. However, this was never enough for the jack of all trades.
When Justin Timberlake celebrates his 40th birthday on January 31st, he will look back on more than 30 years on stage. It was already clear to the Memphis-born son of a choir director in childhood that this is the place where he belongs. Timberlake has now established itself as one of the most famous artists of our time. Over the years the singer has also developed into a real jack of all trades. In addition to music, he has successfully dedicated himself to many other projects for years.
As a member of the television show "Mickey Mouse Club" in the 1990s, he was able to demonstrate his skills as a singer, as well as a presenter and actor. In addition to other famous colleagues such as Christina Aguilera (40) or Britney Spears (39), he announced music guests, took part in skits or performed on stage himself. He then used his obvious talent for singing and dance from 1996 as the lead singer of the boy band * NSYNC, before devoting himself to a solo career that is still successful today from 2002. The all-rounder sniffed the air for the first time in 2000 together with * NSYNC. The band played themselves in the comedy "Longshot". In the same year, at the age of 19, he landed his first leading role in "Model Behavior". After his band split up, Timberlake first attempted a serious role in the 2005 thriller "Edison". However, the film and its performance fell through with critics. His performance in the film drama "Alpha Dog – Deadly Friendships" in 2006 did significantly better. Hollywood increasingly realized that the artist also had great acting talent.
After the success of his second solo album, Timberlake decided to take a musical break in 2010 and devote himself entirely to acting. With his roles in the drama "The Social Network" (2010) as well as the comedies "Bad Teacher" (2011) and "Friends with Certain Benefits" (2011), he proved that he could shine in both serious and comedic roles. He has remained loyal to acting to this day: In January 2021, the drama "Palmer" appeared on Apple TV + with the artist in the lead role.

However, the 40-year-old also demonstrated his sense of humor away from the big screen. He was one of the few stars to make it into the so-called "Five Timers Club" of the American cult comedy show "Saturday Night Live". This includes all celebrity guests who have hosted the show five times or more. Overall, the singer was seen in 15 episodes of the successful comedy format. In 2006 he wrote history there with comedian Andy Samberg (42) and the parody song "Dick in the Box". The sketch became a viral hit and the most viewed YouTube video of the time. Timberlake later even received an Emmy for it.
Numerous skits with late-night presenter and best friend Jimmy Fallon (46) also became worldwide YouTube hits. Her "History of Rap" series, for example, was viewed a million times and in this country was also taken up by Jan Böhmermann (39) for his late night show.

Justin Timberlake made a name for himself not only as a musician and actor, but also as a true style icon. Designer Tom Ford (59), who has been working with the singer since 2011, once raved in the fashion magazine "Instyle": "Justin has a great personal style (…). He has such an effortless coolness." The 40-year-old also demonstrated this knack for fashion with the fashion brand "William Rast", which he launched on the market in 2005 together with childhood friend Juan Ayala. The label was co-designed by Timberlake. In 2018, a cooperation with the famous jeans brand Levi's followed.
But that's not all: since 2003, the all-rounder has been investing in numerous other projects such as restaurants, golf courses and drinks. The passionate amateur golfer had a course in Tennessee overtaken in an environmentally friendly way for around 16 million US dollars (around 13 million euros). However, he sold it again in 2014 for only $ 500,000 (around 400,000 euros). In 2017, together with golf legend Tiger Woods (45), he acquired shares in the "Hurricane Junior Golf Tour", which is intended to promote young golfers. Another area of interest for Timberlake seems to be in the world of beverages and spirits. In 2014 he teamed up with the tequila brand "Sauza" and launched his own tequila. Two years later he invested in the beverage brand "Bai Brands".
Justin Timberlake, the family man
In the past few years it has become increasingly quiet about the all-rounder Justin Timberlake. Because since 2015 he has had another job: his wife Jessica Biel (38) gave birth to son Silas in April of that year. In the meantime, the happiness of the family has even grown by another member: in 2020 Biel and Timberlake secretly became parents again. The good news confirmed the singer in mid-January in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres (63), in which he also revealed that there is another son who bears the name Phineas.
Fans can also look forward to new music from the singer soon. On Instagram, Timberlake hinted at a cooperation with producer Timbaland (48) and Justin Bieber (26) in autumn 2020. He is also said to have stood in the studio with other artists such as rapper Ty Dolla Sign (38).
