We tested the K70 RGB Pro, an interesting high-end keyboard in more ways than one, but which failed to earn 5 stars. A year later, Corsair is back with a Max version of the K70, which seeks not to replace it, but to complete the series with a technical sheet that goes even further.

A host of features and magnetic switches

The K70 Max clearly takes up the format of its little brother, with the numeric keypad, dedicated multimedia keys, volume wheel and double-injection PBT keys for better durability. It adds a magnetic palm rest made of memory foam for better comfort during long sessions spent on the computer.

The big novelty is located under the keys, since the switches (switches) used are now magnetic: it is possible to choose for each key the desired activation height between 0.4 mm and 3.6 mm, as it was the case with the Steelseries Apex Pro Mini. The advantage is therefore to be able to adapt to everyone’s preferences and to be able to juggle between different uses: a low height for competitive gaming for example, and a greater amplitude if you simply want to write on your keyboard. It is also possible to program two types of actions for the same key: half-pressed to walk with your character, or fully pressed to run, for example.

The switches here are magnetic, a first for Corsair.

This type of keyboard is unfortunately wired, but given its technical data sheet, the K70 Max has everything to become a reference. You will have to pay a certain amount of money to get your hands on it, since its recommended retail price is announced at €230, or €30 more than the K70 RGB Pro when it was released. In any case, we meet soon for the full test of this promising keyboard.
