Kaamelott 2: Alexandre Astier confirms the return of the big bad

Present in the post-credits scene of “Kaamelott – Premier Volet”, the sinister Méléagant should be part of the 2nd opus of the trilogy. A return that Alexandre Astier, enigmatic, confirmed to his fans last December.

Provided you have remained seated in your seat until the end of the credits of Kaamelott – Premier Volet, released in theaters last summer, you know the news: Méléagant is back in the Kingdom of Logres.

Also missing for many years, this sinister character embodied by Carlo Brandt (who had done everything to mount Lancelot against Arthur) should logically invite himself in the second part of the trilogy.

In the very last seconds of the first feature film, we could indeed see him crawling painfully among the snow and dead leaves (as he himself had announced in Book V of the original series, in 2007). But what exactly will his role be in the rest of the story? What should we expect from this return? What impact will it have on the fate of Lancelot, and on that of Arthur?

These questions, the fans of Kaamelott did not fail to ask them directly to Alexandre Astier duringa digital meeting organized by Fnac last December. Enigmatic and evasive, the director and interpreter of Arthur nevertheless confirmed the return of “the man in black”. Information that may have escaped you… and us too:

“What can we expect from Méléagant, apart from something not jojo? He’s coming back, we agree, I’m not revealing anything. So if he comes back, in my opinion, in the same way as “Arthur who doesn’t come back to sort lenses, I think neither does he. In my opinion it’s going to be ugly, but I don’t know, I haven’t seen the film yet”he replied with his usual humor.

In the process, Astier also assured his viewers that they were not yet at the end of their surprises about King Arthur. Indeed, when a fan asked him if other secrets concerning the character would be revealed, the filmmaker replied in the affirmative:

“Yes. Absolutely. If I tell you which ones, it’s more of a secret. So let’s keep it all safe, surprise being one of the greatest pleasures you can have in a movie theater.”

Surprises and revelations are therefore to be expected. Which ones? We will have to wait for the return of the Knights of the Round Table to theaters to find out.
