Daughter of Léodagan and Dame Séli, sister of Yvain, Guinevere is married to King Arthur and therefore the Queen of Brittany. Played by Anne Girouard, she does not have an easy life at the castle during the series, often ignored by the king who abandons her to spend time with his mistresses.
In love with Arthur and wishing to give a child to the throne of Brittany, Guinevere strives to find solutions to Arthur’s inaction in the marital bed. Her attempts often ending in failure, she is a source of disappointment for her mother and father. She is interested in the social life of the castle, the culture and understands nothing about the things of the war. On the other hand, she knows Breton law like the back of her hand.
During Book IV, she leaves Kaamelott to flee with the knight Lancelot, who secedes and settles in the forest, rejecting Arthur’s authority and his management of the Grail quest. The experience will be mixed, Guinevere resenting the control exercised by her new lover.
In Kaamelott – First part, we find Guinevere kept locked up in a tower by Lancelot, who refuses that she receives the slightest visit. Arthur, Perceval and Karadoc come to save her and free her. After ten years without news, Guinevere accepts a kiss from Arthur.
What future will the character have in the following parts of the saga? To find out more, we will have to wait until 2024, the release date of the Second part, which will be divided into two parts.
