Bohort is the king of the country of Gaunes, son of Bohort de Gaunes, and member of the Round Table. During the series, we learn that he is married to a lady named Berlewen (played by Virginie Efira) and that he is the cousin of Lancelot, who takes this discovery very badly, wishing to preserve his reputation as a solitary wandering knight and without attachment.

Bohort is often taken for a weakling lacking in courage, more concerned with the social life of the castle than with feats of arms. Several inhabitants of Kaamelott consider it useless, starting with Léodagan. We also learn during Book II that Bohort has not done “his classes” as a knight and that he is unable to fight properly. He stands out from the other members of the Round Table by the chastened language he uses, which gives him something in common with Lancelot.

If he is not the most heroic character in the series, he is undoubtedly one of the most endearing, precisely because he considers culture, the arts and entertainment as important things, which is the case of few people in Kaamelott (Guinevere is one of them). Although he learns that Lancelot loves Guinevere as early as Book II, he proves to be loyal to King Arthur when the Knight of the Lake decides to secede.

In Kaamelott – First part, Bohort is part of the Resistance to oppression established by Lancelot. He faints on seeing King Arthur again after ten years away and recreates an informal Round Table in the forest. Once an ally, always an ally. When Arthur announces that he must kill Lancelot, what will Bohort, his cousin, think? To be continued perhaps in Kaamelott – Second part, which will be a film in two parts.
