KAGE Shadow of the Ninja: a remake for the Blue Shadow of the NES

“Known” is however a very big word for this title which has not remained among the most popular games on the Nintendo console despite its qualities. When bringing the game to Game Boy, Natsume had also agreed with Tecmo to rename it Ninja Gaiden Shadow (Shadow Warriors in Europe). As in the 1990 NES game, KAGE Shadow of the Ninja will allow you to play alone or in pairs, at the controls of Hayate and Kaede, with the notable difference that this remake will offer specific abilities for the ninja in blue and the kunoichi in pink. The weapons of the time (katana, kusarigama, shuriken) will respond present with, in addition, it seems, the ability to unleash magical powers (like lightning).

The 8-bit pixel art will be replaced here by a 16-bit realization evoking what Tengo Project did in Pocky & Rocky Reshrined. On the sound side, Iku Mizutani, who worked on the 1990 game, was called back dare-dare with his guitar to participate in the project. Entrusted to Dynamic Production, the new artistic direction of the characters and illustrations in general will undoubtedly be more divisive as it moves away from the side serious business portraits of the time. Taking place in 2049, the game also told the violent takeover of the United States by the evil bearded dictator Garuda. No video yet to get your teeth into, but KAGE Shadow of the Ninja will be playable at the Tokyo Game Show on September 23 and 24. The game will then be released in the spring of 2024 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Switch and PC.
