Kalray: launch of the TC4 acceleration card on the market

(CercleFinance.com) – Kalray announces the commercial availability of its latest product, the TURBOCARD4 (TC4) acceleration card.

With four latest generation DPU processors, the TC4 targets the markets for intelligent vision and data indexing applications, markets experiencing strong growth due to the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Kalray specifies that its ‘TC4’ is manufactured in France, in the French factory of Asteelflash, one of the main manufacturers worldwide.

Kalay adds that he has already received an initial order of more than $1 million for “several hundred cards.”

TC4 TARGETS THE HIGHLY GROWING MARKET FOR COMPUTING ACCELERATION CARDS

As businesses and data centers need to process an ever-increasing amount of data, compute accelerator cards are gaining popularity in order to provide the best performance and energy efficiency in data processing.

‘The availability of our new TC4 acceleration card represents a major milestone for Kalray. This is an additional step that has been taken to enable the widest possible adoption of our technology. The TC4 has already been selected by one of our main customers, and we envisage a rapid commercial take-off due to the ever-increasing demand for data processing acceleration solutions,’ says Eric Baissus, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kalray. ‘In addition, we are very proud to announce that the TC4 is our first ‘Made In France’ product. Production has started at the manufacturer AsteelFlash’s factory in Langon. ‘

A BOARD DESIGNED TO COMBINE AI AND CLASSIC ALGORITHMS

The TC4 embodies Kalray’s vision for meeting the complex demands of modern data processing workloads. Packing 4 of Kalray’s latest DPUs, CoolidgeTM2, into a single PCIe card, the TC4 is designed to provide customers with the ability to merge traditional processing and AI-based processing technologies, a major challenge for building AI applications the most demanding. DPUs offer a very complementary architecture to GPUs, allowing a large number of different operations to be processed in parallel in an asynchronous manner. DPUs are well suited for preprocessing data that is then used by GPUs or as part of complex intelligent systems running many different algorithms in parallel.

TWO RAPIDLY GROWING TARGETED MARKETS: THE SMART VISION…

The TC4 targets two growing markets. The first is the Intelligent Vision market. Intelligent vision applications play a central role in key sectors such as Industry, Health Sciences or ‘Smart Cities’, due to their ability to analyze visual data in real time, to make intelligent decisions and automate complex processes. The smart vision market size has been valued at $20.31 billion in 2023 and is expected to reach $175.72 billion by 2032, exhibiting a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 27.3% ( Fortune Business Insights). These projections highlight the growing demand for intelligent vision technologies across various industries, driven by advances in AI, and machine learning, as well as their application in automation, quality control, and product improvement. operational efficiency in general.

…AND DATA INDEXING FOR THE GENERATIVE AI MARKET

In the context of Generative Artificial Intelligence, data indexing is crucial. Generative AI models, such as those used in natural language processing or image generation, often need to access huge data sets. Efficient indexing minimizes the time needed to retrieve relevant data, making learning and inference processes faster. Additionally, as generative AI models become more complex, the datasets they train on increase exponentially. Data indexing allows these models to scale more efficiently by ensuring that increasing data volume does not linearly increase access times. Finally, data indexing also improves the accuracy of model output, as it helps quickly identify the most relevant data to insert into the model context. This ensures that model outputs are as accurate and contextually appropriate as possible. Kalray anticipates high demand for computing power for data indexing and positions the TC4 as the ideal solution for these tasks.

PRODUCTION RELOCATED IN THE FRENCH ASTEELFLASH FACTORY

Kalray’s commitment to quality and its desire to relocate its production to Europe led it to team up with Asteelflash for the production of its new TC4 card. Asteelflash is a leading global Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) company specializing in complex and high-tech manufacturing solutions across various industries. Asteelflash has several factories in Europe, notably in Germany and France. Production of the TC4 card is carried out in the Langon factory, France. This partnership was supported by the French government as part of the CARAIBE project. Production volume is expected to increase from a few hundred units per month today to several thousand units per month from 2025.
