International hip hop star Kanye West will finance the studies of little Gianna, the daughter of George Floyd, who was killed on May 25 by American police. The rapper's spokesman also announced a donation of $ 2 million to several families victims of police violence.

On May 25, George Floyd would die at the hands of the police during an inspection at Minneapolis in the United States. After more than eight long minutes of lap tackle, the African American has died despite numerous calls for help. A case of unprecedented police brutality that has sparked worldwide anger and indignation. Since, Americans keep taking to the streets to denounce this violence and racism, more than ever present in the American police.

Among the protesters parading in Chicago, we just saw rap star Kanye West, who, despite his mask and hood, has by no means gone unnoticed. This Thursday, June 4, the rapper joined the crowd to support the Black Lives Matter movement in the streets of the city where he grew up. A movement that he helped make popular in 2014 alongside other celebrities.

It’s only a few hours later that Kany West’s spokesperson announced that the star was going to donate $ 2 million to the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, recently deceased after undergoing police violence. The donation will also cover legal costs for the Arbery and Taylor families, as well as for businesses owned by blacks in crisis in Chicago and other cities. The billionaire has also decided to fully finance the education of Gianna Floyd, now 6 years old.

A donation to redeem yourself?

A gesture of great generosity which perhaps aims to catch up with his words more than inappropriate towards the African American community. He had indeed claimed that "slavery was a choice". Comments from 2018 for which he later apologized. After repeatedly showing his support for Donald Trump whose policy is strongly criticized by the protesters, the rapper said he was "used" and announced to distance himself from politics.
