Kanye West’s Twitter account has once again been suspended by Twitter. The decision was taken after hateful remarks made on the social network and during a television program conducted by Alex Jones, a notorious conspirator across the Atlantic. Elon Musk, the new owner of the social network, confirmed the sanction publicly.
Musk talks about a “incitement to violence”
The American rapper, also known as Ye, has made a name for himself with hate speech in real life and on social media. The decision fell after Kanye West published an openly anti-Semitic image: a swastika inside a Star of David. Hooded, the singer also praised Adolf Hitler in front of Alex Jones – himself heavily condemned for having denied the reality of a massacre of children, reports NBC News.
Elon Musk did not fail to react quickly. “I’m just clarifying that his account is suspended for inciting violence, not for an unflattering photo of me being sprayed by Ari”, explained the billionaire in a tweet. Before being suspended, Ye had indeed shared a caricature of Elon Musk.
The suspension of Kanye West’s account comes a few days after his return to the social network. In November, Musk decided to restore several Twitter accounts, including Ye’s. The latter had already been suspended after anti-Semitic content published on the platform.
Kanye West has been close to ultra-right circles in the United States for several years. On Thursday, the American rapper was the guest of conspiratorial presenter Alex Jones. The masked face, Kanye West had then praised Adolf Hitler during a discussion on pornography and the devil.
Talk turns down Kanye West’s proposal
At the same time, the Parler social network publicly announced that it was rejecting the takeover offer offered by Kanye West. Parler is a network similar to Twitter with an almost non-existent content moderation policy. Popular with conspiratorial and far-right personalities, the platform had been the subject of a takeover offer by Ye.
“Parlement Technologies would like to confirm that the company has agreed with Ye to terminate Parler’s intention to sell. This decision was made in the interests of both parties in mid-November. Parler will continue to seek new opportunities for growth and evolution”said the social network this Thursday on Twitter.
