Karen Cheryl: how she ended up singing a duet with Michael Jackson: Current Woman The MAG

Long before the beginnings of the Star Academy, it was rare for French artists to share the stage with international stars. Karen Chéryl can therefore consider herself privileged. Because, the icon of the 80s, who put her life as a singer on a whim, had the opportunity to perform in a duet with a certain Michael Jackson, at the time when Bambi was at the height of his career. To put in the context, the one who took again her maiden name, Isabelle Morizet marked the eighties with her hits Oh ! Darling, Darling and Sing to me mama, his appearances in the sitcom The new girls next door or his cult show Hugo Delirium. She was therefore regularly invited to variety programs, in France and abroad. And it was on the set of a Canadian show that the unthinkable happened, as she recounted in Indeed, broadcast on France 2, this Saturday, February 6, 2021.

Michael Jackson congratulated him in his dressing room

Because, when the presenter Ali Rebeihi asked him to return to his improbable duet with Michael Jackson, the now columnist on Europe 1 still had stars in his eyes. "He noticed the little Frenchy with the ponytail during the rehearsal, I don't know", she deduced to explain that the interpreter of Thriller, via her producer, is interested in her. "He came to me telling me that Michael Jackson wanted to do the duet finale with me." A moment out of time during which Karen Chéryl had to "learn a song from your period album" with the Village People as choristers. And as if this "madness" wasn't huge enough, Michael Jackson came in person to knock on her dressing room door to congratulate her. "In English, he told me in a little girl's voice that he liked it very much", she concluded, still on her own. A memory that she is far from having forgotten.
