Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg is working on documentaries for RTL+. He will lead through two programs as moderator and interviewer.

Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg (50) returns in a prominent position. But not in politics: together with RTL Germany, the former defense minister is working on “high-end documentaries” for the RTL+ streaming service. The broadcaster announced on Monday that Zu Guttenberg will act as moderator and interviewer through two 90-minute docutainment programs. They should be included in the program later this year. Nothing is known about the content yet.

Resignation after plagiarism scandal

Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg was once considered the hope of the CSU. He was Federal Economics Minister (2009), then Defense Minister (2009-2011) and at the time one of the most popular politicians in the country. Then came the big scandal in 2011: the University of Bayreuth withdrew zu Guttenberg’s doctorate in February 2011 in the course of a plagiarism scandal surrounding his dissertation. A few days later, zu Guttenberg resigned from all political offices. The former politician moved to the USA with his family in the meantime and is said to work today as a lobbyist and management consultant.
