They said yes 23 years ago, and now the marriage of Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg and his wife Stephanie is over. The couple’s lawyer confirms this.
Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg and Stephanie have been separated for several months
“Yes, it’s true, the couple separated on good terms last winter,” the lawyer explains to the agency. There is no bad blood between the ex-defense minister and his wife, on the contrary. “They will continue to remain closely connected to one another in a great friendship,” adds Schertz.
Family privacy is a priority
In his statement, the lawyer further asks for privacy, also in the interests of the children: “In the interest of protecting the privacy of the Guttenberg family and also with regard to their children, we ask that you respect them and refrain from making further inquiries.”
Karl-Theodor and Stephanie tied the knot in 2000 and are parents of two daughters: Anna, 21, and Mathilde, 20. The couple actually wanted to expand their family, but their wish remained unfulfilled. “I never talked about it. But my husband and I really hoped for a third child,” says an excerpt from the book “We can do better!”, which Stephanie zu Guttenberg published in October 2022. The separation apparently took place just a few weeks later.
