As a “Tagesschau” spokeswoman, Karolin Kandler didn’t have much of the money she earned. Nevertheless, this time was worth it for her.
Karolin Kandler (37) has been part of the ProSieben “Newstime” team since last year. The former “Tagesschau” spokeswoman, who has two small children, now explains in a new interview that little was left of the money she earned during her time at ARD.
“If you can go to work as a mother of two small children, that’s pure luxury,” says the presenter, who has been with “tagesschau24” and “Tagesschau” since 2018. the “Bild” newspaper. She lives in Munich and had to commute to Hamburg because of her job. The associated costs were immense.
“The rest went for food”
In an interview with the daily newspaper, Kandler calculates that working six days a month cost her around 1,950 euros for a hotel, train journeys and two babysitters. “The rest went for food,” says the 37-year-old. So she “worked almost for nothing for four years”. Kandler tried to see the whole thing as an investment in their future, “then the money didn’t hurt so much. And I think it was worth it!”
Kandler has been married since 2015. She has a small son and a daughter. She had the magazine “Bunte”. last October, before changing channels, revealed that she was looking forward to becoming part of a new team. “Of course I’m also happy that I no longer have to commute and that I can put my children to bed myself every night in the future,” said Kandler. The ProSieben headquarters is near Munich.
The “Newstime” usually shows ProSieben around 6 p.m. Kandler moderates alternately with her colleague Michael Marx (56).
