Kassav’: 8 months suspended prison sentence for an emblematic member of the zouk group

They gave zouk a worldwide resonance and celebrated it, as it should, in 2019. For good reason, that year, the group Kassav’ celebrated its 40th anniversary. A hard blow for the members of the Kassav ‘group, which has already mourned the loss of Jacob Desvarieux, in 2021. The concert of their 40-year career had been subsidized in part by the regional tourism body of Guadeloupe. Two men were implicated in the context of an investigation into the financial conditions of the organization of this service… since a sum of 100,000 euros had been paid to the association Sign’Alizé, chaired by Pierre -Edouard Décimus – who is one of the founders of musical training. The investigation began in October 2020 following a report from the Regional Chamber of Accounts of Guadeloupe to the prosecution on management irregularities, in particular for the use of funds to clear certain personal debts of the musician.

Two culprits in the case

Pierre-Edouard Décimus was finally sentenced on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, by the Pointe-à-Pitre criminal court, to eight months in prison, suspended for breach of trust. He will also have to pay a fine of 15,000 euros. “The court followed the prosecution’s requisitions“, specified the prosecutor of the Republic of Pointe-à-Pitre to AFP.
