The lockdown hits Katarina Witt on the mind, as she reports. She also takes a hard line against politics.

The ongoing corona lockdown is also difficult for Katarina Witt (55). "More and more a cloak of melancholy surrounds me and everything is becoming more and more difficult", writes the former figure skater on "Facebook" among other things. Otherwise you know her "happy, optimistic and tirelessly full of zest for action", but her "week-long demeanor (…) slowly alternates with perplexity, indignation and sometimes anger".

Witt is not a "corona denier" or "lockdown opponent", her heart breaks when she "sees all the people with their various needs and concerns on television" or reads the news about them. But she is taking a hard line with politics. The 55-year-old "just can't avoid quarreling with some political decisions". Germany must "pay for everything that politics missed, slept through and saved in the past".

Many industries "got into extreme difficulties" last spring. Witt speaks of "unfulfilled promises" and complains about a lack of tact. At the end of the tunnel, she currently sees no light, just "my bedside lamp". Nevertheless, she closes her contribution with "hopeful greetings".
