Kate Beckinsale has had to live without her father for 45 years. On the anniversary of his death, she paid homage to him with an emotional Instagram post.
Richard Beckinsale (1947-1979), the father of the British acting and style icon Kate Beckinsale (50) died unexpectedly of a heart attack in 1979 at the age of just 31. Since then, his daughter, who became famous in films like “Much Ado About Nothing” and “Pearl Habour,” has had to make do without her famous daddy. This year it will probably be particularly difficult for her to remember him. It was only in January of this year that she had to say goodbye to her stepfather Roy Battersby (1936-2024).
“My first year without a father figure”
The actress posted on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of her father’s death on Instagram a whole carousel of family photos in which the always in a good mood Richard Beckinsale can be seen on various occasions. There she writes: “The day you died comes so suddenly, even when I expect it. This is my first year without a father figure in a long time. How much I miss you.”
In her emotional post, she expressed the hope that her two father figures could possibly meet in the afterlife: “I hope your energies have met.” She closes her memorial text with the moving words: “I am so grateful that I received your love. I feel it like an echo.”
