Everyone is well aware that the royals don't necessarily have to spend every penny. But would you have guessed how big the royal budget was for your wardrobe last year?

The royals all have a knack for fashion and like to dig deeper into their pockets for their wow looks. The specially made designer dress or the coat fresh from the catwalk – a few euros change hands for the blue bloods' wardrobe. But which royal lady has a particularly relaxed wallet and who prefers to spend his wealth on other things than stocking up on the royal wardrobe?

So much in advance: The sums that the royals pay for their "work clothes", that is, for their looks at public appearances, are not for a tight budget. How good that Princess Charlène's is jam-packed, because according to "adelswelt.de" no other royal spent so much money on her fashionable achievements in 2020.

Princess Charlène is said to have spent 100,000 euros

The dressing room of the Princess of Monaco is said to be worth more than 100,000 euros. No wonder, after all, Prince Albert's wife is said to have presented herself in 74 new pieces from luxury labels such as Prada, Dior and Louis Vuitton last year. Ready-made clothing like the one Duchess Kate likes to wear? Not in the Monegasque royal house!

Speaking of Kate: Even if the mother of three likes to grab trend pieces from Zara, & other Stories or Massimo Dutti, the 134 new pieces of clothing that she is said to have worn at her appointments for the crown according to the online magazine still have an alleged total value of around 85,000 euros. Duchess Meghan, in turn, who officially attended appointments for just under three months in 2020 before she and husband Prince Harry resigned as senior royals, provided 81 new pieces with a presumed value of around 50,000 euros for a comparably even higher bill.

On the other hand, Queen Máxima was a little more economical. Around 49,000 euros are said to have been on the Dutch monarch's fashion bill last year. With allegedly 81 new items of clothing during their royal appearances, still an impressive sum.

Queen Letizia is the most economical

The bottom of this royal bill comparison are Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and Queen Letizia of Spain. While the former was displaying 81 new fashion items and is said to have paid around 21,000 euros for them, Queen Letizia's bill was even lower at around 15,000 euros for 97 pieces. We see that comparatively it works without an excessively large royal budget.

With all the numbers and bills, however, we shouldn't forget one thing: In the end, only the blue-blooded women know who pays for the sums, what the designers may have only loaned out or even given away and whether one or the other royal discount was granted.
