Platinum Jubilee Day 2! After the Trooping the Color military parade, the aerial flight over Buckingham Palace or the lighting from Windsor Castle of a sculpture in the shape of a tree 21 meters high, the festivities continue this Friday, June 3. Appointment was made in the morning at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.
After the gradual arrival of several members of the crown – including Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle in a mixed atmosphere at the level of the crowd – we could see Prince William and his wife arriving Kate Middleton. The couple made their appearance to the dizzying sound of the Great Paul Bell, which happens very rarely, for this thanksgiving mass. This bell dating from 1882 is the largest church bell in the country. Its mechanism broke in the 1970s but was repaired last year. It has only sounded eight times since. An event that Queen Elizabeth II misses because of “discomfort” in her health felt the day before. But never mind, the one whose 70 years of reign is celebrated was well represented by her clan.
Once again, the monarch was able to count on the unfailing commitment of Kate Middleton, a model figure in the royal family. The Duchess of Cambridge opted for a chic but sober pale yellow ensemble by Emilia Wickstead. All accessorized with a large XXL hat said fascinator forming a disc on top and revealing floral patterns below from Philip Treacy. With her husband William she was cheered by the crowd of onlookers then was seen exchanging a few words with the religious representatives before climbing the steps of the cathedral offering a few hand gestures in the direction of the public. It should be noted that the couple had made the trip without their three children: George (8 years old), Charlotte (7 years old) and Louis (4 years old); the latter was turbulent the day before, stealing the show from the queen!
It remained to be seen whether William and Harry would take advantage of this mass to seal their reunion when their relationship has been very strained for months…
