New Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton is everywhere ! While we had seen little of her just after the announcement of the death of Sovereign Elizabeth II, the 40-year-old now takes her role very seriously by participating in the homage ceremonies. And after a mass during which she seemed on the verge of collapse, then a poignant moment of contemplation in Sandringham, she found his smile and his professionalism this Saturday for an important lunch with Commonwealth officials.
In effect, the time of scarred face and teary eyes is now over (for now…) : accompanied by King Charles III, Queen Consort Camilla, with whom she was very complicit, but also her husband, Prince William, the young woman warmly welcomed her guests, beaming in her long black dress. As jewelry, a pearl necklace and earrings…rather symbolic! Indeed, since the beginning of the period of mourning, the princess has respected the family tradition of wearing only this kind of jewelry in official moments like this, a tradition that dates back to Queen Victoria.
A princess on all fronts
Radiant, the mother of three children (George, 9 years old, Charlotte, 7 years old, Louis, 4 years old) has in any case played her role to perfection once again for this lunch which promises to be a rehearsal at the dinner which will will be held this Sunday at Buckingham Palace: King Charles will indeed receive all the heads of state present in London for the funeral of his mother and will be surrounded for the occasion by his heir, Prince William, but also by all the senior members of the royal family, of which Kate is obviously a part.
A dinner to which Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, former senior members, had also been invited by King Charles but to which they would have been “disinvited” by Buckingham Palace, which would not have wanted to make an exception to the rule.
The family will therefore meet at the funeral of Queen Elizabeth on Monday, a funeral with great pomp which promises to be grandiose and during which tears should flow. Before that, we could find Kate Middleton in a very solemn moment this Saturday: the 8 grandchildren of the queen will indeed meet for an exceptional vigil around her coffin.
If she will not be part of it, the Princess of Wales could on the other hand attend it in withdrawal, as had done this Friday other members of the clan and even great-grandchildren (Isla and Savannah Phillips, Mia and Lena Tindall) of the monarch who died on Thursday, September 8.
