It was an unexpected announcement that took place on Friday March 22. Kate Middleton, who had abdominal surgery in mid-January 2024, came out of her long silence in order to silence the rumors and speculations that have been proliferating on the web for several weeks now. After the scandal of the retouched family photo on the occasion of Mother’s Day and for which she had apologized, the mother of George, Charlotte and Louis spoke out via a video posted on her social networks. It was sitting on a bench on her property in Windsor that she revealed she was suffering from cancer. The Princess of Wales did not specify what cancer it could be but made it clear that she had started preventive chemotherapy on the advice of her medical team.

“These last few months have been extremely difficult for our entire family, but I have had a fantastic medical team who took great care of me, for which I am very grateful,” she declared. Then to announce: “In January, I underwent a major abdominal operation in London which was apparently benign. The operation was carried out successfully. However, tests carried out after the operation revealed the presence of cancer. My medical team therefore advised me to undergo preventative chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of this treatment. Following this statement which shocked the world, especially after the wave of rumors of all kinds posted about it on the internet, the magazine Hello! announced that Kate Middleton, Prince William and their three children will not be present for a major annual appearance during an important event in the royal family’s calendar. In fact, the family will not attend Easter service next week in Windsor.

Children have taken leave from school for a fixed period of time

The couple’s children, Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte of Cambridge who attend Lambrook School in Berkshire, will also be absent for a month at school and are not expected to return until April 17, according to the magazine Hello!. “They will most likely now stay home with their parents during the holidays, which began just as Kate’s news was revealed to the world on Friday”, we could read from our colleagues. The Welsh family usually spend their children’s school holidays at Anmer Hall, their ten-bedroom second home on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk. And some British media have suggested that Kate, William and their children had planned to go there. A parenthesis that would allow them to breathe…

During her speech on Friday March 22, the daughter-in-law of King Charles III, also suffering from cancer, declared: “We hope you understand that as a family we now need time, space and privacy until my treatment is over. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I can, but for now I must concentrate fully on my recovery.”
