On Remembrance Day, Kate Middleton interviewed a 98-year-old veteran and a 10-year-old Girl Scout. Fans celebrate them for it.

Three generations in one video: Kate Middleton (39) interviewed 98-year-old Colonel David Blum on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the war veterans organization Royal British Legion. Third in the round was Emily Edge, a 10-year-old boy scout. The conversation came about on Remembrance Day. Every November 11th in the United Kingdom and many Commonwealth of Nations, soldiers who died in war are remembered. The interview is on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s YouTube channel to see clippings on that too official Instagram account.

The conversation was not only about the anniversary of the veterans’ association, but also about the importance of memories – and how they can be passed on from one generation to another. Colonel Blum told the visibly moved Duchess about a comrade who was killed the day before the end of the First World War (November 11, 1918). In the end, the three of them made paper poppies together. They are traditionally worn on clothing on and around Remembrance Day.
