Katy Perry: singer postpones album release for weeks

Katy Perry cannot release "Smile" as planned on August 14th. Which is more likely to come: your new album or the child?

"I hate having to throw this bad news in your face like a cake," Katy Perry said to her fans via Instagram. The sixth studio album by the 35-year-old, "Smile", cannot be released as planned on August 14th. "Due to inevitable production delays," explains the pregnant "Roar" interpreter, the album will only be released on August 28th, two weeks later. She is really sorry for the delay, "but if one thing taught me in 2020, it is not to stick to plans too much and be flexible".

Live talk as compensation

In early March, Perry made public that she and actor Orlando Bloom (43, "Pirates of the Caribbean") were expecting their first child together. For her fans, the singer is also one hundred percent there during pregnancy. For example, a few days ago she performed with an unmistakable baby ball at the online Tomorrowland and now she holds the position via Instagram.

In order to "make up for the postponed album release", the 35-year-old will now go live for 30 minutes every Sunday and chat and play with her followers. How long did she want to do that? "Until the album comes out or the baby – whatever comes first," jokes the singer.
