Yu-Gi-Oh creator dies
The universe of manga loses one more of its legends. Known worldwide for the manga Yu-Gi-Oh published between 1996 and 2004, Kazuki Takahashi died at the age of 60. According to the NHK channel, the mangaka was found dead on July 6 near the city of Nago, in Okinawa prefecture. According to the first information, it would be a scuba diving accident which would have been fatal to him.
Fond of Dungeons and Dragons and Magic, Kazuki Takahashi was inspired by his passions to create Yu-Gi-Oh, a hugely successful shonen from the 90s where individuals fight in card duels. With us, Yugi and his whole gang arrived in 2000 and the success was immediate. In a short time, the manga had become a worldwide phenomenon thanks to its card game which continues to be a hit. In the world of video games, the work has had a second wind thanks to Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, the free-to-play game that broke records in early 2022. Takahashi had continued to create various anime derivatives of Yu Gi Oh, including Zexal, before reducing his activities as a mangaka.
