KBC: appointment of a new financial director

(CercleFinance.com) – Bartel Puelinckx was appointed financial director of KBC on Tuesday morning to succeed Luc Popelier, who will soon take over as general manager of Hamburg Commercial Bank.

The appointment of the senior executive will take effect on September 1, subject to the approval of the National Bank of Belgium and the European Central Bank (ECB).

A graduate in economics and law, Puelinckx joined KBC Bank in 2002 and was, between 2010 and 2014, financial director of CSOB, the Czech banking subsidiary of KBC.

In 2016 he became managing director of KBC Securities, the investment division of the KBC group, then in 2019 general director of compliance for the entire group.

Luc Popelier, who has been financial director of the Belgian banking group since 2021, explains for his part that he has agreed to seize a ‘unique’ career opportunity by becoming the new general director of Hamburg Commercial Bank (HCOB) from 1 next September.
