Actress Keira Knightley, star of “Love Actually”, revealed the reason why she wore this beret during an interview with the BBC.

Love Actually is the cult romantic comedy for millions of people. It is also a Christmas film that can be watched every year, in the same way as Maman j’ai missed l’avion. There is everything you dream of for a New Year’s Eve: laughter, emotion and love. In this feature film, the cast is royal: Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson but also Keira Knightley. The actress, also known for her role in Pirates of the Caribbean, had a funny anecdote during the filming.

Remember, it’s about halfway through the movie. Newlywed Juliet, played by Keira Knightley, goes to see Mark, her husband’s best man. She comes to the artist played by Andrew Lincoln (The Walking Dead) with a newsboy cap on her head. The fashion accessory is, in the general opinion of viewers, much too big and hides half of her face. Keira Knightley had revealed during an interview with BBC 1 radio that this cap was actually intended to hide a gigantic button that she had right in the middle of her forehead. Indeed, the actress was only 17 years old at the time, and therefore had, as often happens, acne. This button was impossible to camouflage with make-up or a hairstyle, the shooting could not be delayed, only solution therefore: the famous cap-beret.

The film crews had come together to find a solution

The actress confessed that she remembers the exact day and time the scene was shot. She had had to face a huge moment of embarrassment. The whole team had discovered his button. Makeup artists, lighting artists and director Richard Curtis then sat down to decide how they were going to hide it. In this famous scene, Juliet arrives at Mark’s to see the video filmed during her wedding. The latter makes him believe that he erased it. When she finds her, she watches her and discovers that Mark does not hate her, but that he is in fact in love with her. He will end up confessing his feelings to her in the famous scene of the panels where he must remain silent so that Juliet’s husband does not hear him declare his love for him.
