Keith Richards celebrates his 80th birthday

He’s a rock legend: Keith Richards, guitarist of the Rolling Stones, turns 80. Of course, Mick Jagger and Ron Wood congratulate him publicly.
The immortal rock legend Keith Richards celebrates his 80th birthday today, December 18th – and of course his bandmates from The Rolling Stones warmly congratulate him on his special day. Above all, frontman wishes Mick Jagger (80) sent his companion a warm greeting via Instagram. Alongside a picture of the two legends wearing befitting, cool sunglasses, Jagger wrote: “Happy birthday, Keith. With love, Mick.”
Also Ron Wood (76), the second Stones guitarist alongside Richards, wishes his colleague on his Instagram profile only the best. He posted a whole series of pictures, most of which show the two of them laughing. He commented on the photos with numerous emojis and also wished “a happy 80th birthday”.
In addition to Jagger and Wood, the operators of the Instagram page of the late Rolling Stones drummer Charlie Watts (1941-2021) in order to honor Richards accordingly. Some pictures from days gone by can also be seen there. An earlier quote from Watts about Richards was shared: “Keith is the most interesting, the most different of us all… He is a man of vision and one of the few people who hasn’t really changed over the years.” When they made music, the wine and his guitar were always there: “And he just sits in the middle like a wonderful sultan. That’s fantastic.” Richards has always been like that.
Unusually, Richards even congratulated himself. More specifically, his social media team took advantage of the opportunity and left a greeting for their boss on Instagram for his birthday. Alongside a picture of him, they wrote: “All the best, Keith! We love and respect you and are honored to be on your team!”
And of course there was also on the official The Rolling Stones Instagram page a corresponding birthday post in honor of the guitarist: For a video with excerpts that show Richards in the studio, on stage or during video shoots, the makers wrote: “All the best to the one and only. We wish you a very special day. Keep on rockin’.”
Keith Richards himself doesn’t only have thoughts of himself on his special day: 40 years ago to the day, on December 18, 1983, his 40th birthday, he married the American model Patricia “Patti” Hansen (67). . He also shared a picture of the ceremony on the Mexican beach on Instagram from Cabo San Lucas and wrote: “To Patricia. Happy 40th anniversary! I love you. Keith.”
