Monday April 22, Kendji Girac was shot in the chest while he was in a reception area dedicated to travelers in Biscarosse, in the Landes. Operated and stabilized, the singer told investigators that he had injured himself with a weapon acquired very recently. Statements which did not prevent the Mont-de-Marsan public prosecutor’s office from opening an investigation into attempted intentional homicide. Quickly, a connection was made with a tragedy visibly occurring within the gypsy community, where the 27-year-old singer comes from.
During the night from Sunday to Monday, this time at a Traveler reception area located in Ribérac, in Dordogne, other shots were fired. This shooting, which caused the death of a man and left two injured, according to the Périgueux public prosecutor’s office, was quickly linked to the domestic accident of which Kendji Girac claims to have been a victim. According to information from a source close to the investigation, interviewed by BFMTV, no link could ultimately be established between these two cases. Monday April 22, our colleagues from The Dispatch were interested in the circumstances of the shooting, reporting that according to the first elements revealed, an argument was at the origin.

Four suspects taken into custody
An altercation therefore allegedly broke out between travelers and another group during the day on Sunday. The story did not end there since in the evening, the settling of scores continued with deadly exchanges of fire. The authorities (the Ribérac gendarmes and the Bordeaux research section) quickly intervened at the scene of the tragedy. A criminal investigation was opened by the Périgueux public prosecutor’s office and according to France Bleu Périgord, four individuals were taken into custody. No leads have been ruled out. The reception area is currently monitored by the police. In addition, the crime scene was analyzed by criminal identification technicians and a helicopter even flew over the scene.
