The information was confirmed by his agent to the American magazine Entertainment Weekly: “Kenneth Welsh passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones.. In Twin Peaks, Kenneth Welsh played the role of a sinister man obsessed with chess, who was a former FBI agent and partner of Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan). A central character in season two, this serial killer linked his murders to a correspondence chess game he was playing with Dale Cooper.
Beyond his performance in the series created by David Lynch, Kenneth Welsh has also appeared in more than 200 films and series. He notably camped the role of a sheriff in legends of autumns alongside Brad Pitt, but also that of a vice-president in The day after with John Cusack. He also starred in movies The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Aviator, Fantastic Four and the Silver Surfer or Crocodile Dundee 2.
Many television roles
On the television side, Kenneth Welsh contributed to several cult series of the 1990s and 2000s such as X-Files, Smallville, Star Trek: Discovery but also The Expanse. In 2018, he landed one of the lead roles in the HBO series Lodge 49. Finally, the actor will soon appear in an episode of the reboot of the series The Kids in the Hall, available on Prime Video on May 13. A last role that should move his fans.
