Kesha: So the singer takes her inspiration

Singer Kesha (32, "Animal") is back with her new album "High Road" after a three-year break. With the usual mix of dance pop and rap, she sings about the sunny side of life. She inspired a very specific person for her self-written songs: "My mother is a great inspiration for me," she explains in an interview with the news agency spot on news.

"She is a strong single mother who has always given us the feeling that we are lacking nothing," explains the "Tik Tok" interpreter in an interview. Kesha's mother, Pebe Sebert (63), is a well-known songwriter herself and has already delivered hits for stars like Dolly Parton (74). "She taught me how to write songs. Songs that are honest." However, her mother is also her greatest critic. "My mother is one of the few people who tell me the truth. For example, if I write a song that is just not good, she tells me that too," Kesha said with a laugh.

"I feel more spiritual today than ever"

But it wasn't just her mother who shaped Kesha. Her childhood in Nashville, Tennessee, also left its mark on the 32-year-old: "It is a very religious state. There is a church on every corner. So I grew up with religion." But their spiritual path was not shaped by a particular religion. "I feel like it's more a combination of many different ideologies, all based on love, honesty and compassion." Today she feels more spiritual than ever, explains the singer.

That has been going on since the "MeToo" movement

On the album "High Road", Kesha is not only heard as a singer, but also works as a producer – which could be a relief for the 32-year-old. Finally she throws her former producer Dr. Luke (46) claims to have manipulated and sexually abused her. The "MeToo" and "Time's Up" movements are important, says Kesha. "I think the most important thing is that people get active when something inappropriate happens. It was long overdue and really necessary."
