On the front lines of the actors’ strike, some big Hollywood stars are also taking to the streets for their colleagues.

It’s the biggest labor dispute in Hollywood in decades. Since the end of last week, actresses and actors have joined the union SAG-AFTRA laid down their work. Yesterday, Monday (July 17), many of them again took up their pickets in front of the film and television studios in the metropolises of New York City and Los Angeles. A number of big Hollywood stars were also at the forefront.

These stars took to the streets on Monday

In New York City, actor Kevin Bacon (65) took to the streets for his colleagues. The “Footless” star was dressed in a black t-shirt that read “SAG-AFTRA STRONG,” a baseball cap and sunglasses, and carried a sign that read “SAG-AFTRA ON STRIKE!”.

Nina Dobrev (34) also mingled with the strikers in front of the New York headquarters of Warner Brothers, Discovery and Netflix. The ‘Vampire Diaries’ actress was dressed in black leggings and a black t-shirt, with a large yellow hessian bag slung over her shoulder. She also held a protest sign in her hand. The protesters also included actress Busy Philipps (44) and actor David Boreanaz (54).

In Los Angeles, Hollywood star Hilary Duff (35) defied the heat and joined the strike in front of Paramount Studios. Dressed in short black shorts, a nude T-shirt and a straw hat, the “How I Met Your Father” actress spoke up for her colleagues. She was accompanied by her colleague Francia Raisa (34), among others.

Biggest strike in more than 60 years

Screenwriters in the US have been on strike since early May. On July 13, actors’ union SAG-AFTRA joined. It is the first double strike of its kind in the United States in more than 60 years. It is expected that operations in the film studios will be paralyzed indefinitely. Productions are delayed – and it could also mean cuts for works that have already been completed.

Because the Hollywood stars are not allowed to stand in front of the camera or on the stage during the ongoing strike, nor appear at premieres, promotional tours or award ceremonies. The first real consequences were already visible: Shortly after the strike was announced, the “Oppenheimer” stars around Cillian Murphy (47) demonstratively left the London premiere celebration. The “Barbie” premiere in Berlin on July 15 also took place without the main actors Margot Robbie (33) and Ryan Gosling (42).
