four days and three nights, the accession to the perch of the candidate designated by the party, the Californian Kevin McCarthy… While for a hundred years the election, which had become a formality, had always been played in the first round, it took fifteen rounds for McCarthy to achieve his ends.

The surrealism of the situation was reinforced by the American tradition which wants elected officials to happily invite women and children to attend their enthronement. Reason for discord
Since we are here, let’s take a moment to look at little Milla’s outfit and this woolen dress decorated with a jacquard pattern called “Fair Isle”. Precisely invented in Fair Isle, an isolated island in the north of Scotland, in the Shetland archipelago, then popularized by Edward VIII, this pattern was originally to meet precise specifications: to combine five or six colors in total, including two for the same line, and, above all, not to present any areas of solid color. Let’s be blunt: at this point, we’d much rather McCarthy do his best to hide that pesky fancy color-contrast buttonhole lying on his jacket collar, in an attempt to pep up his look. In any case, it would be much less pointless.
