It is the first film since the sexual harassment allegations against Kevin Spacey. He returns to the cinema in March with a thriller.

The two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey (64) will celebrate his comeback as a cinema actor with a new film in March 2024 after allegations of abuse were made against him in 2017. The indie thriller “Peter Five Eight” is scheduled to hit theaters on March 22, 2024 and will then be available on streaming portals. as the industry magazine “The Hollywood Reporter” reports.

In it, Spacey plays a mysterious but charismatic stranger who visits a small mountain town on the orders of his criminal boss. There he targets a woman named Brenda (Rebecca De Mornay, 64) in order to get information about her. But his real target is real estate agent Sam (Jet Jandreau, 26), who turns out to be an alcoholic with a dark secret.

Acquittal for Kevin Spacey

Kevin Spacey was accused of inappropriately touching or forcing sexual intercourse with four men in Great Britain between 2001 and 2013 – including his fellow actor Anthony Rapp (51), who accused him of sexually harassing him when Rapp was just 14 years old was. After the first allegations against the Hollywood star became known in 2017, his career was put on ice. Spacey pleaded not guilty to all charges and denied the allegations. He admitted in the trial that there had been “intimate” contact with an alleged victim. He had consensual sex with another man.

Back in October 2022, Spacey was found not guilty by a New York jury. On his 64th birthday, he was finally acquitted on all counts in London at the end of July 2023. The acquittal does rehabilitate the “House of Cards” actor, but several experts believe that he will still not be able to resume his career in Hollywood for the time being. He has better chances in Europe, like “Page Six” wrote. “Look at all these men accused of sex crimes, from Woody Allen to Roman Polanski, they all work in Europe,” an insider is quoted as saying.

“Deserved a second chance”

The film rental and streaming service provider Invincible Entertainment is supporting the Spacey thriller. CEO Thomas Ashley told “The Hollywood Reporter”: “The film deserves to be seen. It’s a great film. And I don’t think the filmmakers deserve to suffer. He was found not guilty and deserves a second chance, just like we all do.” The film will be shown in the USA in New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago and Miami. Ashley hopes other cities will follow suit. Thomas Ashley has already stood up for Johnny Depp (60) in the past when the abuse allegations from Amber Heard (37) became known and he released a film with Depp shortly afterwards.
