The father, trainer and sponsor of UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has died. He died of complications from Covid 19 disease.
Great sadness at the Russian UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov (31). His father Abdulmanap died in a Moscow hospital at the age of 57 after complications related to Covid-19. The Chechen president and friend of the family, Ramzan Kadyrov (43), announced this in a statement. After a severe heart attack, surgery and subsequent coma, the sponsor and trainer of the martial artist belonged to the high-risk group.
Abdulmanap was a highly regarded coach in his home town of Dagestan and was a judoka himself. His son Khabib is undefeated UFC lightweight world champion and received worldwide attention mainly due to his win against Conor McGregor (31) in October 2018. After the fight, he attacked McGregor's teammates for provocations. He was accompanied by the police from the stadium without a ceremony and under a shrill whistle concert.
