Kia prepares the launch of the impressive EV9, its first electric SUV

Kia is starting its teaser campaign for the EV9, its first 100% electric SUV.

And the South Korean firm intends to continue its momentum, particularly in France, with a very positive sales dynamic.

At Kia, after the EV6 comes the EV9

Earlier this year, Kia gave a preview of its future EV9, its first 100% electric SUV. Already driven by its Sportage and Seltos, the brand intends to invest in the electric SUV market in 2023 with the EV9, whose mass production is fast approaching.

The manufacturer has already confirmed that this second 100% electric vehicle will be based on the same E-GMP platform as the very recent Kia EV6 sedan. Moreover, the latter was recently put in direct confrontation with… a Lamborghini Aventador SVJ.

Kia’s first electric SUV in 2023

For the brand, this new EV9 SUV could constitute a “ game changer both for Kia, but also for the electric SUV market. Recall that the concept was revealed for the first time at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2021. If the technical sheet has not been revealed, however, we know that the SUV should offer a range of around 540 kilometers.

In November, Kia sales worldwide reached 252,825 units, an increase of 15%. The manufacturer’s sales were mainly driven by its SUV range, the Sportage posting 39,335 units sold, without forgetting the Seltos with 27,947 sales as well as the Sorento and its 19,949 units sold. The firm obviously hopes to continue this dynamic with its EV9.

Regarding the French market, from January to November 2022, Kia’s sales volume amounted to 41,786 units (including 22,645 electrified vehicles), an increase of 3.7% compared to the same period. in 2021. This allows the brand to maintain its 3% market share, in a market down 8.7%, while remaining in the top 10 best-selling automotive brands in France.
