Ki’Leaft, Berkem’s new active ingredient extracted from the kiwi leaf – 11/10/2022 at 08:08

(AOF) – Berkem, a French specialist in plant extraction, is launching a new Ki’Leaft active ingredient. It is an extract of kiwi leaves certified cosmos 100% of natural origin, upcycled and from local production near the Berkem Group’s extraction plant, in Dordogne. Ki’Leaft responds to market needs with its antioxidant, firming, regenerating properties and reinforcement of the skin’s barrier function.

Industrial expert in plant chemistry, the Berkem Group has developed and tested the capacities of kiwi leaf extract. After 10 years of R&D, various studies have revealed the properties of Ki’Leaft, an active ingredient rich in sugars and containing polyphenols.

Thus it has been clinically proven that Ki’Leaft offers an immediate tensor effect, that it participates in the regeneration of the skin, reinforces its barrier function as well as its structure, while presenting a strong antioxidant capacity. Ki’Leaft meets the expectations of the cosmetics market by offering benefits for the facial care market (serum, facial care, etc.), which has been growing by 10% every year worldwide since 2020 (source Mintel GNPD – The Future of Facial Skincare, 2022).

A second part of the year at risk

Chemical players should be faced with a scissors effect. First, they have to face an explosion of costs: experts estimate that in 2022 natural gas prices should increase by 470% and electricity prices by around 300% following the war in Ukraine. Added to this is an oil price that is also on the rise. On the other hand, their ability to increase prices should be penalized by a less dynamic economic context, linked in particular to the difficulties on the Chinese market, weighed down by a wave of confinements. The world leader, BASF, anticipates a decline of between 6% and 14% in its profits in 2022.
