On the eve of the 50th anniversary of the throne, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia invited people to a private dinner in their residence.

To kick off the 50th anniversary of the throne, King Carl Gustaf (77) and Queen Silvia (79) invited people to a private dinner in their residence, Drottningholm Palace, on Thursday evening. In addition to the children of the royal couple and their families, the royal families from Denmark and Norway with both generations, i.e. the generation of the king and the heir to the throne, were also invited.

Color flash in front of Drottningholm Castle

The photographers in front of the castle were presented with a colorful picture, as many of the ladies in the dinner party wore signal colors. Crown Princess Victoria (46) appeared on the arm of her husband Prince Daniel (50) in a bright one-shoulder evening dress with a large fabric flower on the shoulder Orange. Victoria’s sister-in-law, the wife of Prince Carl Philip (44), Princess Sofia (38), was no less noticeable in her pink flounced dress. A third member of the color group was Victoria and Daniel’s daughter, Princess Estelle (11). The surprisingly tall eleven-year-old had chosen a moss green tulle dress.

For the happy occasion, the Queen chose an elegant nude-colored dress with sparkling appliqués on the upper part. Her second daughter, Princess Madeleine (41), wore a lilac dress decorated with flowers. Husband Chris O’Neill (49) and the other men wore dark suits with white shirts and black bow ties. And the royal guests also dressed up: Crown Princess Mary of Denmark (51) wore white and black and Queen Margrethe of Denmark (83) wore pastel colors.

Performance in the castle theater

Not only a dinner awaited the guests, but also an “anniversary performance of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in the Drottningsholm Palace Theater”. The palace shows pictures of it on Instagram.

The anniversary program

Today’s anniversary day (September 15th) will begin with a solemn thanksgiving service in honor of Carl Gustaf and end with a large banquet in the palace in Stockholm. Tomorrow, Saturday (September 16th), the royal family’s carriage ride through the capital is on the agenda, followed by an open-air concert in front of the palace.
