Buckingham Palace issues surprising statement

Before the news was announced, the Prime Minister had met the monarch at Buckingham Palace to request the dissolution of Parliament. A little later came the surprising statement from the palace. “Following the Prime Minister’s statement this afternoon calling for a general election, the Royal Family will – in accordance with normal procedure – postpone engagements that could attract attention or distract from the election campaign,” British media quoted as saying official statement.

King Charles and family cancel all appointments
