While King Charles was traveling through Kenya with his wife Queen Camilla, sad news may have reached him. There was a death within the family.

During his four-day trip through Kenya from October 31st to November 4th, 2023, this was evident King Charles, 74, in a good mood and exuberant. Things might have looked a little different inside. Because just one day before he started his trip with Queen Camilla, 76, he lost a family member.

King Charles: His cousin has died

As the Scottish newspaper “Dundee Courier” confirms, Albemarle Bowes-Lyon died on October 30, 2023 at the age of 83. He was a second cousin of King Charles and a nephew of the late Queen Mum, †101. The publication also stated that a “private funeral” will be held for Albemarle at a later date, which will be a “celebration” of his life.

Albemarle Bowes-Lyon was close to the Royal Family

Albemarle, whose brother Ferguson Bowes-Lyon, †59, was the 17th and 4th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne, is said to have been close to members of the Royal Family, according to Hello. He took part in both the coronation of Queen Elizabeth, †96, on June 2, 1953 in London’s Westminster Abbey and her funeral in September last year. However, it is said that he was not on the guest list at the coronation of the new monarch in May 2023.

The news of his relative’s death came on the very day that King Charles and Queen Camilla set off on their four-day trip to Kenya. The 74-year-old appeared to be in a good mood and exuberant on site and, in many public appearances, even threw overboard the strict conventions that his mother had modeled for him.
