The royal couple is celebrating their 19th wedding anniversary
Charles’ cancer diagnosis must have come as a shock. But the couple were still in a great mood on Easter Sunday.

In the middle of cancer treatment, King Charles III is waiting. a special day: He has been married to Camilla for 19 years.
Their 19th wedding anniversary this Tuesday will be King Charles III. (75) and Queen Camilla (76) will probably spend together in Birkhall, their home on the Balmoral estate in Scotland. The reports the British newspaper “The Sun” and sees it as a good sign that the monarch dares to stay so far away from his London doctors in the midst of his cancer treatment.
For Charles and Camilla, their wedding anniversary this year is set to be a very special moment after the king was diagnosed with cancer during prostate surgery in January. The two share decades of love. From the hated lover who was blamed for the marriage debacle with Princess Diana (1961-1997), to the accepted wife at Charles’ side and even to the esteemed queen – Camilla has made a remarkable journey at the royal’s side. After it had long been considered absolutely impossible that the two could ever officially become a couple, they were finally allowed to get married.
They already spent their honeymoon in Birkhall
Almost eight years after Diana’s accidental death, they exchanged vows on April 9, 2005 in a civil ceremony at the Windsor Guildhall and then received a religious blessing at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor. They then honeymooned in Birkhall. The house previously belonged to Queen Elizabeth II’s (1926-2022) mother, Queen Mum (1900-2002). “It is a very special place, especially because it was made by my grandmother. It is a garden from my childhood, and all I have done is to beautify it a little,” the king once said in an interview with “Country Life” about his love of Birkhall’s gardens. While Balmoral has long been considered Queen Elizabeth II’s favorite residence, Birkhall is a favorite of her son. It was recently announced that Balmoral Castle would be opened to the public for the first time. King Charles gave visitors permission to take private tours of rooms used by the royal family.
Charles is on the mend
The king appears to be doing well after his cancer diagnosis. On Easter Sunday he appeared beaming at the Easter service together with his wife Camilla and other family members. He even shook hands with those waiting in front of St. George’s Chapel in Windsor. If their health continues to improve, the royal couple could even set off on a longer trip abroad in October. Australia and New Zealand are on the program.
Nevertheless, there are likely to be thoughtful moments on the wedding day: Charles’ father Prince Philip (1921-2021) died exactly three years ago. And there is still concern for daughter-in-law Princess Kate (42), who is also suffering from cancer.
