While King Charles attended an official event on his birthday, he was celebrated with gun salutes across Britain.

King Charles III celebrates its 75th birthday this Tuesday (November 14th). The British monarch did not miss the opportunity to do his work on his special day and attended an appointment in Oxfordshire. There he officially announced the start of the Coronation Food Project. The initiative campaigns against food waste and wants to distribute food by setting up several Coronation Food Hubs.

Charles came to the appointment with his wife Queen Camilla (76) and both waved to those present who wanted to convey their congratulations to the monarch despite the rain. The king wore a camel-colored coat with a white shirt and light blue tie. Camilla appeared in a dark green skirt and blazer ensemble, paired with black leather gloves and black boots. Both also grabbed an umbrella as they approached the crowd.

Reception at Buckingham Palace

As the British “Daily Mail” also reports, the king’s birthday was celebrated with a gun salute. Among other things, 41 gun salutes were fired in London’s Green Park, 62 in the Tower of London and 21 in Edinburgh. Later in the day, Charles is due to host a reception at Buckingham Palace honoring the work of nurses and midwives in the National Health Service (NHS). According to the Daily Mail, the guests include around 400 nurses and midwives.

A day earlier, King Charles III. celebrated his birthday with several guests and a three-tier cake at a small tea party at the Highgrove House country estate in Gloucestershire. Son Prince William (41) and his wife Princess Kate (41) have already congratulated him on social media and on their shared Instagram account a three-part photo series published with souvenir photos in honor of the birthday child.
