King Charles, who is suffering from cancer, is busy doing his work again. Yesterday, Thursday, he received a visitor from Jamaica.

Even during his cancer treatment, King Charles III. (75) fulfilled many of his royal duties. At the beginning of the week he received the British Finance Minister Jeremy Hunt (57) and the ambassadors from Algeria and Mauritania at Buckingham Palace. Yesterday, Thursday (March 7), the monarch hosted a high-ranking diplomatic visit from Jamaica with Alexander Williams and his wife Carol Watson-Williams.

Jamaica demands independence from the British crown

Williams came in his role as high commissioner of the Caribbean island nation to discuss the political future of his homeland with the king. As Head of the Commonwealth, King Charles is the official sovereign Jamaica. However, the island nation’s government decided last year to draw up a new constitution and hold a referendum on self-determination in 2024. At the end of the process, the current parliamentary democratic monarchy is to be transformed into a democracy completely independent of Great Britain.

As pictures of the royal audience show, the meeting appeared to be extremely friendly and constructive. Despite his cancer, which was diagnosed at the beginning of February 2024, King Charles appeared no less vital and in a good mood than his guest.
