Foie gras has long been controversial. Now the French delicacy finally flew out of the palaces of King Charles III.
King Charles III (74) has banned foie gras from the diet of the British royal family. PETA has received confirmation “that His Majesty’s compassionate policy extends to Buckingham Palace and all other royal residences.” it said on the website of the world’s largest animal rights organization. They sent him a vegan alternative as a thank you.
Even when the king still bore the title of prince, he removed the “despicable product” from his royal residence. In doing so, he lives up to his reputation as an environmentalist and nature lover. Now the controversial foie gras has finally flown out of all royal palaces.
French delicacy has no place in the British royal family
In France, foie gras is a delicacy that is often eaten at Christmas. Manufacturing the specialty is banned in the UK. The sale and import, however, not. The reason for the excitement is the fattening of the animals. To do this, a tube is pushed down the geese’s throat, with which they are force-fed. The result of this is a pathologically enlarged fatty liver that is up to ten times larger than that of a healthy animal. “PETA” has long described the stuffing of animals as “cruel”.
