New military assignments for William and Kate

King Charles partially reorganized his family’s military roles. Princess Kate and Prince William also have new tasks.
Like Buckingham Palace and King Charles III. (74) announced on Friday that the royal court is reshuffling some military roles among the most senior members of the family. Among other things, Prince William (41) and Princess Kate (41) now have three additional tasks, as reported by the British newspaper “The Herald”, among others.
Eight of the previous honorary posts held by his late mother Queen Elizabeth (1926-2022) will now be directly related to the King, including patronage of the Royal Navy ship HMS Queen Elizabeth.
“Following His Majesty’s accession to the throne, the King is pleased to announce further military appointments for working members of the Royal Family,” the palace announced. The appointments would reflect the close relationship between the armed forces and the royal family.
Effective immediately, Kate has been appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Fleet Air Arm, part of the Royal Navy responsible for operating aircraft on board ships. In addition, she can now call herself a colonel in the 1st Queen’s Dragoon Guards, an armored reconnaissance unit. Her third new title is that of Honorary Royal Commander-in-Chief of the Coningsby-based Royal Air Force Squadron Eurofighter Jet Cadets.
Prince William now honorary commander of his former base
Her husband Prince William also has three new tasks in his portfolio. William now holds the title of Colonel of the Mercian Regiment and Army Aviation Corps and is Honorary Royal Commander of RAF Valley. An air force base where he himself worked as a pilot.
King Charles III In addition to the aforementioned patronage, he also assumes the title of honorary military commander of numerous armored units as well as detachments and regiments of the British Air Force.
His wife, Queen Camilla, 76, has also taken on numerous new posts, including as Colonel in the Royal Lancers – the unit in which her late father, Major Bruce Shand, served during World War II. In addition, she takes on the task of Colonel of the Grenadier Guards almost exactly a year after Prince Andrew (63) was recalled from this role. His mother, Queen Elizabeth, stripped her son of all military posts and titles after he became involved in the scandal surrounding convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, 66.
In addition, Princess Anne (72), Prince Edward (59) – the other siblings of King Charles – and Edward’s wife Duchess Sophie (58) were considered in the current round of appointments.
