King Charles has been battling cancer for several months. Now there is reportedly a break in his treatment.

King Charles III (75) will reportedly pause his cancer treatment while traveling to Australia and Samoa. This is reported by the British “Daily Mail”. According to the report, the monarch’s doctors have given the green light for the break. The 75-year-old will visit Sydney and Canberra from October 18, after which Charles will travel to Samoa in the South Pacific, where he will attend a meeting of Commonwealth Heads of Government.

Charles will be accompanied by his wife, Queen Camilla (77), on the trip, which is planned until October 26th. According to the report, the two have a full schedule with up to ten appointments per day and only a single rest day. However, insiders told the Daily Mail that the royal couple’s program was organized in close consultation with the king’s doctors. The appointments were therefore organized in such a way “that his continued recovery takes priority.”

Good news for Charles’ health

According to the report, the king will continue his ongoing cancer treatment until his departure, before the brief interruption during his trip abroad. Charles will continue his treatment once he returns to the UK, it said.

The monarch was diagnosed with an unspecified form of the disease earlier this year after prostate surgery. He has reportedly been receiving treatment on a weekly basis since then. The Daily Mail writes that the fact that the royal is going on an 11-day trip between treatments is “not only good news for his health, but also underlines the commitment he has shown since his diagnosis.” .

In February, the palace announced that Charles had cancer and was initially retiring. The sovereign continued to work behind the scenes and resumed his work in public in April. The upcoming trip will be the first big trip for the king this year. Since his diagnosis, he has only been in France briefly, for the D-Day commemorations in June.
