This year’s Trooping the Colour parade in honour of King Charles, 75, is surely one of the most emotional celebrations this year. In a surprise move, Catherine, Princess of Wales, 42, announced that she will take part in the ceremony despite her cancer. She will be given a special honour on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

King Charles wants Kate to stand next to him

They are finally reunited! The Royal Family gathers on the balcony of Buckingham Palace and there is a noticeable change: King Charles stands next to Kate instead of next to Prince William, as was the case in 2023. With this, the British monarch is making a statement. His relationship with the 42-year-old is close and he wants her by his side. In doing so, he is welcoming her back into the public eye in a special way and showing that he supports her in this big appearance.

There are also loving moments between the two on the balcony. They talk to each other, laugh. She leans over to him several times, and he is happy about what she says. The past few months have not been easy for either of them, which makes it all the nicer that they seem to support each other.

Last year, Prince William stood by Charles’ side

Last year, it was Prince William who took his place to the right of his father. As heir to the throne, it seems only logical that he should be closest to him and placed there. On the other side was Queen Camilla, who will stand next to him again in 2024. However, her position in the parade was much more central and Charles moved a little more to the right.

A joyful return

It was already clear beforehand how happy King Charles was about his daughter-in-law’s participation in the birthday celebrations. According to British media, the 75-year-old was “delighted” that Kate was there. According to a representative of the British royal family, “His Majesty is delighted that the Princess will be able to take part in tomorrow’s events and is very much looking forward to all aspects of the day.” Shortly before, the British royal herself announced that she would be taking part in the parade. How wonderful that they were able to spend this special day together as a family.
