King Charles’ plan for a slimmed-down monarchy also has consequences for the many employees in the royal family. After Clarence House, numerous employees at Windsor Castle are said to have to go.

How far-reaching will the consequences of King Charles, 74, be. Because the monarch wants to keep everything a bit smaller and more discreet after the death of Queen Elizabeth, † 96, not only do some family members have to fear for their position in the royal family, but the employees in particular are very concerned about their jobs.

King Charles sorted out

According to The Guardian, up to 100 employees at Clarence House were laid off in September. The king and his wife Queen Camilla, 75, are not moving to Buckingham Palace as expected, but are staying in Clarence House. The reason for this is renovation work in Buckingham Palace, which is expected to take ten years.

Windsor Castle is also set to become emptier

Now it is said that staff will also be reduced at Windsor Castle. As part of a radical overhaul, a number of the Queen’s most important employees are apparently having to go. According to an insider at “The Mirror”, the employees are “extremely worried about their future”. “It’s a really difficult time. Many have already reconciled themselves to leaving jobs they have treasured for years. It has left a real sense of anxiety among employees.”

Charles and Camilla are said to have no interest in spending their time at Windsor Castle themselves. And Prince William, 40, and Catherine, Princess of Wales, 40, should not want to move in there either. Royal experts are now worried whether Windsor will become an empty castle or whether Charles will use his mother’s last place of residence at least occasionally on weekends.
